March Madness in Vegas is my jam, and I consider myself a watch party connoisseur.
Over the years, my group has hit parties at bars, in theaters, a depressing conference room at Palace Station, and we’ve even taken in the action from a pool cabana at Palms (which is super cool, btw).
As March approaches, I figured it’d be helpful to share my experience at STRAT’s Festival of Hoops, a party organized by normal folks (from Missouri of all places) who love college basketball, gambling on college basketball, and creating a great environment to watch college basketball.
Refreshing in a city that grows more “corporate” by the day.
They also administer the March Madness in Las Vegas Facebook group, which is chock full of like-minded degenerates that share watch party reviews, war stories, and good-natured snark. Worth a join.

March Madness Eve Party
The party starts on Wednesday night with the March Madness Eve Party, hosted by PT’s and the neighboring View Lounge overlooking the sportsbook.

The party has become an annual tradition for my group because of what you get for $60 per person:
- AYCD domestic bottled beer, wine, and N/A drinks from 3-9pm.
- AYCE buffet featuring a nacho bar, pizza, wings, and salad from 3-6pm.
- This year, they’ll serve corned beef, cabbage, and Guinness from 3-6pm in a nod to St. Patrick’s Day.
- A bag with a souvenir shirt, cup, and 3 raffle tickets.
You aren’t going to find a crowd on the Strip that gets as into every shot, miss, and rebound on Wednesday night. It’s a great atmosphere.
My biggest gripe with this party, which I addressed with Jay, the organizer, was how intoxicated I got.
It made drinking my first beer on Thursday morning quite challenging.
I choked it down. Don’t worry.

Festival of Hoops Watch Parties
There are 3 separate bookable parties that fall under the Festival of Hoops umbrella (PT’s, View Lounge, and the Showroom).
Seats start at either $245 or $250pp at each, depending on the venue (tax-inclusive, but there is a $5 fee) and include:
- A reserved seat.
- AYCE snacks, breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets.
- AYCD beer, cocktails, wine, and N/A drinks.
I’ve only attended the Showroom party, and it’s one of the better ones in town. They understand content management, mask commercials, and keep game audio flowing.
When they play music, it’s not so loud that conversation is impossible.
The screens are massive, crisp, and the showroom is in great shape. I tried to get a feel for sightlines around the room, and there doesn’t seem to be a bad seat in the house.
Nothing worse than having a seat facing away from the action, forcing you to turn your head slightly for the entirety of the day.
(ok, there may be worse things than having to turn one’s head. But we’re talking college hoops watch parties here)

Our group booked a table in the front corner of the room, and while everyone else’s table was adequately sized, ours was the smallest I’ve ever seen. It was like 1 foot in diameter and wasn’t going ot accomodate 5 guys, their drinks, plates, etc.
Considering I had to Google “what word describes the width of a circle,” it’s likely helpful to explain that “diameter” is the width of a circle.
Radius would be measured from the circle’s middle to the outer edge, and circumference is the distance around the circle.

Disappointed, I asked the organizers, Jay and Jacky, if they could do anything. They bent over backward to immediately address the issue and get us a table that could adequately support our alcoholism.
Parties run by normal folks for a community they legitimately value beat corporate ones. All day.
Service was spectacular, and we were never without a full bucket of beer (or more) on the table, ready for consumption.

Here are a few pans I took of the space, to give you a better idea:
The buffet & snack bars are set up just outside the showroom, and there are blackjack tables up there to accommodate gambling while you’re gambling.
The buffet was stocked with an assortment of snacks, desserts, sandwiches, nachos, pizza, chicken wings, and stadium fare. Nothing fancy, but I found it adequate.
Last year’s nacho bar was clutch, and I ate more buffalo wings than I’m proud to admit.
Notably, they’ll be offering a full breakfast buffet in 2027 vs. the breakfast sandwich everyone received in 2026.

STRAT Hotel Partnership
Uniquely, the organizers have partnered with STRAT to offer discounted rooms to their audience, bookable through March 21, 2027.
The room block rates are:
- 3/16 – $69
- 3/17 – $69
- 3/18 – $89
- 3/19 – $129
- 3/20 – $119
- 3/21 – $69
The resort fee is being waived, and you have to book through their specific link, which you can find in the Facebook Group. It’s a private group, so you’ll need to join.
Don’t let whatever negative perceptions you have about STRAT alter your decision. All rooms booked through their block are automatically upgraded to their renovated Elevate Rooms, which I thought was great for the price.
I reviewed it with words/pictures and on YouTube.

To Sum it Up
There is no shortage of March Madness watch parties in Vegas, ranging from free to expensive AF, with various “bells & whistles”, depending on the price point.
You can compare party options here – I add them as they’re announced.
As for ballroom parties, STRAT’s Festival of Hoops pricing is in line with the market, has a great atmosphere, runs like a well-oiled machine, and is organized by people who genuinely care about putting on a great event for an awesome community.
If you’re on the fence, you can book it with confidence. It’s a good one.

I’m a former software salesman turned Vegas aficionado. While the craps table is my preferred habitat, I pull myself away to explore new attractions, shows, restaurants, and outdoor activities around Las Vegas with the intent of sharing my experiences.
Ultimately, I just want to help folks plan a better trip and save a few bucks in the process.
