4 Dirtiest Vegas Hotel Rooms I’ve Had – Pee, Hair, & Stains

There are an abundance of affordable rooms in Las Vegas that don’t suck, but to qualify as a solid option, the room has to be clean.

A frugal traveler myself, I love sniffing out quality budget-friendly rooms… But taking them for a test drive isn’t always a “walk in the park”.

I figured it’d be helpful, and kind of funny, to point out the 4 grossest hotel rooms I’ve had in Vegas, ending with the worst.

I’ll link to each of my full hotel reviews, just in case you wish to investigate further.

Casino Royale

The Best Western at Casino Royale is known for not charging a resort fee, selling footlong hot dogs for $3.99, and bottled beer for $3, but the hotel left a bit to be desired.

A wide angle look at the room, with a king bed on the back wall flanked by end tables.

The room’s aesthetic is pretty boring, but fine at a distance… until I found myself standing in a yellow puddle on the bathroom floor.

A yellowed, wet rag displayed for the camera after sopping up the puddle.
Yikes.

I assumed it was a puddle of urine, but I later discovered it was water dripping from the ceiling, caused by my upstairs neighbor’s shower.

Drips of yellowed water emerging from a crack in the ceiling.

On top of the ceiling rain, there was light-brown staining on the towels and bedding that didn’t inspire confidence.

A white towel layed on the floor displayed to show brown stains.
A light tan stain on a sheet.

There were plenty of other unpolished nooks & crannies throughout my Standard King room.

A green splotch of mold growth inside the ceiling light.
Something molding in the bathroom light?
Rough grout in the shower.
Gotta scrub those grout lines…
A dirty base of a door frame.
A dirty drain cleanout underneath the sink.
Mystery scribbles in pen on the back side of my hotel room door.
Can anyone make sense of this?

My experience at Casino Royale was laughable. Like, actually so bad it was funny.

Thing is, it’s not even that cheap. Rooms start at around $100/nt, and you can almost always stay at a low-tier Caesars or MGM property for less… sometimes much less.

Do that.

Luxor’s Pyramid

The Pyramid Premier rooms at Luxor are among the cheapest on the Strip, and they’re a solid value… if clean. Last renovated in 2021, the room has a modern look and furniture hand-me-downs from Bellagio that were in great shape.

This monstrosity on the bedroom ceiling was the first indication that something may be awry.

Peeling paint on the ceiling.
Sand that bad boy down and repaint it!

The peeling paint was just an appetizer for what I found in the bathroom: The definition of a “shoes on” bathroom…

Brown stains at the base of the toilet.
A corner of the bathroom that is covered in hairs.
Hairs next to the toilet.

The most damning evidence of an uncleaned bathroom floor wasn’t the abundance of hair, but a bright blue pill that was tough to miss.

I chose not to ingest it.

A blue/green pill in the corner next to a thick hair.

While not really a cleanliness issue per se, the ceiling above the sink was rusting. Weird.

Rust along the ceiling above the sink.

You may have noticed that I specifically called out Luxor’s Pyramid. In my experience, rooms in their towers, like this Tower Premier King, are in much better condition.

Best yet, they’re only going to cost a few dollars more. Worth it.

Flamingo

Flamingo Rooms at Flamingo (I know, not the most original name) were renovated in 2018 and start at around $80/nt after fees. Pretty inexpensive for the location, which is spectacular.

I actually loved this room from a distance for that price, too. The art celebrated Flamingo’s rich history, and the flamingo-shaped bedside lamp was awesome.

Another angle, from the window, that shows a pink couch in the foreground with the bed in the background.

What wasn’t awesome was the room’s condition upon closer inspection. Legit worried Flamingo may not have brooms and/or vacuums.

A bunch of hair and dust on the floor.
Hairy Corner.

Wall splats, scrapes, and gouges were too numerous to count.

Splatter on the wall.
They must not have rags.
dark scuffs on the base of a doorframe.
A long black scuff on the wall.

The bathroom shower grout & calk lines were where things got really gross, however.

A corner of the shower with disgusting, discolored caulk.
Honestly, they must not have eyes.
Grout lines that have yellowed.
Maybe the grout is supposed to be yellow?
Another discolored shower joint.
A toilet seat, with one screw missing its decorative cap.
They must not have extra caps.

OYO

And now, the dirtiest hotel room I’ve had in Las Vegas to date: A Standard King Room at OYO.

I knew this room would be a disaster, given the condition of the hotel’s common areas. Whatever this was stood out like a sore thumb in my floor’s elevator lobby.

A busted up remnant of a hand sanitizer dispenser on the wall.
How a maintenance employee walks past this daily, and just thinks “whatever” is beyond me.

Anyway, the room itself was pretty dusty, there were burn(?) marks on the table, and debris under the TV stand’s glass top.

A wide angle view of the room, which shows a king bed and a window in the background.
The TV stand counter with dust and staining.
The TV stand top.
There was dust everywhere.
The closet shelf was pretty disgusting.
The shelf in the closet.
The white table top with dark perma-stains.
The dining room table had these dark permanent stains and plenty of scratches.

None of the above was too appalling… But what threw me over the edge was stepping in a puddle of (what I assume was) gelatinous urine in front of the toilet, getting the residue on the bottom of my shoe, which made a sickening sound when walking on the tile.

The base of a toilet with failing caulk, and a dried stain on the floor around it.

The rest of the bathroom was just gross, too. Like, are you standing in this shower, much less sitting in it to take a bath?!

A close up of the shower floor, which is dark and soiled.
Pass.
A showerhead encrusted with mineral buildup.
Did OYO run out of CLR?
A dirty corner in the bathroom.
Essentially, any and all corners were an issue at OYO.
Bathroom counter with 2 yellow permanant stains.
A couple of yellow smudges on the bathroom countertop.

Look, OYO could be a great casino to visit. They specialize in cheap, $3 beers and deal $1 blackjack… but skip the hotel.

These are just my worst hotels in Vegas to date – I’ll be adding to this as I encounter “nightmare rooms” that elicit a hearty chuckle… or a few tears.

I’d love to know your opinion on the worst, dirtiest Vegas hotels! Leave your horror stories in the comments!
