Luxor opened its signature pyramid in 1993 and added twin 22-story hotel towers in 1998, bringing the resort’s total room count to 4,400.
That makes Luxor the second-largest hotel in Vegas, bested only by MGM Grand.
Luxor also offers more than 120,000 square feet of gaming, packed with over 1,000 slot games and an assortment of table game options.
Like other Las Vegas resorts, the gaming floor tends to be the star of the show, but what other things are there to do at Luxor?

Enjoy the theming: Luxor’s theme has been “dumbed down” over the years, but it still wails. Worthy of a visit.
Titanic Artifact Exhibition: My favorite attraction in Las Vegas (yes, I’m a nerd).
You’ll get a boarding pass with an actual passenger when you enter and will have the opportunity to learn their backstory… and fate. They do a spectacular job of emphasizing the human element of the tragedy.
For instance, these are the personal items from a passenger recovered from the wreck site.
Among the 250+ artifacts on display are parts of the ship, silverware, an unopened bottle of champagne, and a massive piece of the Titanic’s hull.
I’ve been to the Titanic Artifact Exhibition in multiple cities, and the Las Vegas version is easily the best maintained and most interesting.

Bodies… The Exhibition: Bodies at Luxor lets you view 13 whole-body specimens and 260+ organs/partial specimens, offering new insight into the inner workings of the human body.
Among my favorite exhibits is the comparison of a smoker’s lungs to those of a non-smoker. Bring the kids along, and they’ll never pick up a cigarette.
This is one of two real-body exhibitions in Vegas (the other is at Horseshoe), and I felt the Luxor version was slightly better.
Discovering King Tut’s Tomb: Another museum attraction at Luxor, Discovering King Tut’s Tomb educates visitors on ancient Egypt, Egyptian culture, and Howard Carter’s 1922 discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb.
While it’s packed with interesting information, it lacks the authentic artifacts & specimens that make Titanic and Bodies “cant-miss” attractions.
I left feeling disappointed as everything you see is a replica. A recreation.
Play Playground: Enjoy cocktails and large social games at Luxor’s newest attraction, Play Playground.
Challenges guests can look to tackle include the “Perfect Popper”, which is modeled after the board game “Perfection” and “Ringer Run” which tasks you with walking a metal ring down a meandering metal track without it touching.
My brother and I stopped in, gambled on the oversized games (loser had to buy beers), and had a ton of fun.
See Carrot Top: You remember him from the 1-800-CALL ATT commercials, but he’s now the star of a Las Vegas residency at Luxor.
A raunchy, high-energy comedy show that leverages plenty of props and borrows from current events, Carrot Top is likely to have you in pain from laughter.
Blue Man Group: Everyone immediately recognizes the Blue Man Group. Their reputation precedes them. The show is best described as 3 completely blue dudes providing an audio/visual sensation. A concert that stimulates all the senses.
See a Topless Revue: Whether you’re planning a bachelor party, bachelorette party, or a unique date night intended to spice things up, Fantasy at Luxor could be a great option.
The sexy burlesque show has been a staple of Strip entertainment for over 20 years and features 15 acts that “have never been hotter”.
Play Video Games: Luxor’s HyperX Esports arena hosts numerous online tournaments and also offers hourly gaming. Pricing ranges from $15 for an hour to $125 for a 24-hour pass.
In addition to gaming, the Esports arena offers a food and beverage menu with items like chicken finger baskets, cheeseburgers, and Philly cheesesteaks, averaging around $15-$20.
Things To Do Near Luxor
Although Luxor is somewhat isolated at the south end of the Strip, there is a free tram that connects the property with both Mandalay Bay to the south and Excalibur to the north.
Access the tram on the Strip side of the property.
In addition to the tram, there is also an enclosed walkway that connects the 3 properties, which is my preferred method vs. using the trams.
At Mandalay Bay, I recommend grabbing a cocktail with a view at the all-new Vinyl Room (formerly Foundation Room) or paying the cover to access the expansive Mandalay Bay Beach pool complex.
Excalibur’s unique theming elements are also fun to explore as well, as the resort is modeled after a medieval castle.
After admiring Excalibur’s theming elements, snap up tickets to their unique dinner show “Tournament of Kings”.
There, you’ll feast on a Cornish game hen (and sides) while knights reenact the story of King Arthur.
If thrills are on the agenda, check out the Big Apple Coaster at New York New York, which is a pretty wild ride – Thrill seekers won’t be disappointed.
If you have kids in tow, they’ll also love the arcade at the base of the rollercoaster.
A free dueling piano show fires up nightly at New York New York, two resorts to the north at their Bar at Times Square.
My wife and I stumbled across this show years back, and it remains one of my fondest Las Vegas memories. Entertainment fires up nightly at 8:30 pm.
I recommend getting there early and snagging a seat at the bar top, with gaming on the outside of the bar.
Topgolf, which is located behind MGM Grand is a competitive driving range experience that is fun for avid golfers and amateurs alike.
In addition to golf, Topgolf has a 2-level pool that’s open to the public aged 21+ for free.
The FRIENDS Experience: Also at MGM Grand, The FRIENDS Experience: The One in Vegas is a must for fans of the show, packed with photo ops from iconic moments, set recreations, set-used props, and a lot of “fun facts”.
I’m not even a fan of the show and thought it was well done.
Visit the Pinball Hall of Fame: If you take the tram/indoor walkway to Mandalay Bay, you’ll be a short walk from the Pinball Hall of Fame, which is located on the Strip, just south of Mandalay.
Inside, you’ll find a mind-boggling number of pinball games that span the decades and arcade games. Entry is free, but you’ll need quarters to play.
Don’t worry, they have ATMs and change machines.
Visit the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign: Steps away from the Pinball Hall of Fame is the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign, the brainchild of Betty Willis.
